New Faces
  • Jack Hendry & co purchased K-Pods from Geoff Rickard in early October, following a lengthy training period getting to know Pods inside out.
  • Jack has spent years as a forklift technician, which amongst other specialities included 12v wiring, battery electric power systems and hydraulics. This specialist knowledge and Jack’s attention to detail are very well placed in the manufacturing of K-Pods.
  • The “& co“ are Jack’s back up team of Jenni & Gary Hendry (Ma & Pa) who have experiences in furniture and kitchen production, product sourcing and shipping plus marketing.
  • Maree is running our accounting system, which we are all getting up to speed on, to provide a more professional service.
  • In the new year we will be taking on a sales and marketing professional too! We’ll leave her to blow her own trumpet!

  • We are working towards having a “Stock Pod” in 2021 which will be available on a much shorter order time. To achieve this, we will be simplifying the options available on the stock model to allow us to pre-produce. As soon as have completed the design details we will have them on the website.
  • We will still be manufacturing the customised product that you know today, so no change there.

  • The production has stayed in the Bay of Plenty, but we’ve moved to bigger premises in Omokoroa, north of Tauranga.
  • We have improved our upholstery with professional cushion/mattress manufacturing and the fabric is now computer cut in batches and, when finished, our pre-cut foam cushions are inserted. We are working on a memory foam option which we hope will be on the price list soon.
  • We have also moved to CNC (computer cutting/drilling)  of interior cabinets which provides 100% accuracy and saves us time in the workshop. We had another two components headed to the CNC shop in December which  completed that stage of investment and improvement.
  • We are committed to bringing down our order times and all the above assists in this process.

Great News! At last a mediation board has declared that K-Pods’ methods of fitting our gas water heater is perfectly correct and therefore always have been and should never have been queried.
It has been a long drawn-out affair with some unnecessary bad publicity, but now Geoff (K-Pods’ previous owner) has been totally exonerated! This now leaves Geoff the option of pursuing all his defence costs while enjoying his new pursuits!.
